POINTER Fund Raising Table Quiz

POINTER Fund Raising Table QuizThanks to those who supported the POINTER Fund Raising Table Quiz on Friday. The Brainiacs just pipped Quality Street to win first prize.

POINTER is a youth based program aimed at facilitating young people into their local youth club. It has been designed to encourage them to become more involved in the local youth club while also developing new skills and increasing personal confidence.

This entails a regular commitment involving activities with both voluntary and statutory organisations. POINTER operates under a points system where the young person collects points on attendance & by taking part in activities. POINTER participants enter the programme with the understanding that a minimum amount of points are required to qualify for a trip.

To date POINTER youth have completed Princes Trust courses on Personal Development, Healthy Lifestyles, and Preparation for Work; a NMDC Good Relations Cultural Awareness course; and a Cedar Trust Disability Inclusion OCN course. From 1st to 8th August over 100 young people from across Newry & Mourne will visit Pittsburgh USA where they will engage in activities with Pittsburgh Port Authority Police, Pittsburgh Steelers and the Ireland Institute. Last Friday the young people attended a workshop on the consequences of anti social behaviour. This Saturday Kingdom Youth will be taking up a street collection in Kilkeel towards POINTER costs; your support would be appreciated.
